Tradecraft's 55 Community Tips (Slideshow) for a Stress Free Thanksgiving

Upholding long standing holiday traditions can feel like a LOT of pressure, especially for those who are hosting their friends and family for the very first time for a major holiday. As I sit typing this on a quiet Tuesday morning at home before Thanksgiving, it occurs to me that this beautiful home my partner and I just purchased is in fact in Plymouth, MA, the very landing place of the Pilgrims who hosted the first Thanksgiving. For us, and many people in our local community, in Plymouth, on Cape Cod and the South Shore, this sentiment of preserving (most) traditions (for the right reasons) rings especially true. Some traditions are worth upholding, even as we grapple with the complicated history of some of our beloved traditions.

Last year was our first time hosting a major holiday gathering, and we learned a LOT. We also enjoyed tons of useful assistance from our friends and family. #blessed Thanks mom! Since our whole thing here at Tradecraft is encouraging our small business clients to focus on, above all else, community engagement for the betterment of all; we thought it would be a fun experiment to ask our friends, clients, and all 38K+ of our local Cape Cod/ South Shore buddies in our Cape Cod Photography community what advice they would give a first time Thanksgiving host to help them have a pleasant, stress-free holiday. By our local community, for our local community. Just as it should be.

Our community really came through for us on this project, and we know that these tips are going to help a lot of folks hosting Thanksgiving for the first time in 48 hours! We are pumped to share these 55 tips for hosting a stress free Thanksgiving back with our community. We pared it down from hundreds of submitted tips, removing duplicates, to offer the widest range of advice for the greatest benefit. While we did conceive of this project with first-time hosters in mind, we think there is a little something in here for everyone, from the Holiday Amateur to the Seasoned Pro. See slideshow below for all 55 tips!

We are especially fond of Tips #'s 11, 15, and ESPECIALLY #45. Which will you be trying out this year for the first time?

From your friends at Tradecraft, we hope you have a beautiful, warm, and BS free holiday. Oh, and don't forget to share this post with someone who DEFINITELY needs help this week!

A personal note from Tradecraft's owner, Nicolas Sandim

Tradecraft, a Nicolas Sandim Project's primary mission is to help small to mid-size local businesses on Cape Cod, the South Shore, and the South Coast connect in genuine and meaningful ways with their communities. By offering our clients thoughtfully elevated marketing, web design, social media and online reputation management, branding, graphic design, and operations consulting services, (and more!) we propel their businesses to new heights while reconnecting them to their core principles, sometimes even their reasons for starting the business in the first place. I have found this process to be a beautiful exploration of business theory and leadership, and I often learn things about myself and my own business when consulting with and getting to know a new client.

I believe that businesses have certain responsibilities to the communities in which they operate. By encouraging and helping our clients to tailor their brand identity, value proposition, and marketing messages around this belief, we help businesses reconnect with their community, and sometimes even to determine who their community even IS and only then how best to connect with and support them, often for the first time ever. It is a powerful and inspiring process to be a part of. I am truly grateful for the connections and creativity this business has already fostered, and we are only just getting started.

Over nearly a decade working with teams from Cambridge to Provincetown, launching and growing businesses, I have learned a lot about what it takes to make positive change in one's business, and I can usually tell when a business owner's heart isn't really 'in it' anymore. With this venture, I have the privilege to work exclusively with businesses who are willing to trust our process, who are open to getting more involved in their community, and whose standards are as high as our own. If you are interested in learning how an updated brand, online presence, and shifting to a more community focused marketing message can help you love AND grow your business, please reach out today by sending me an email at nicolas@teamtradecraft.com or selecting a time for us to meet here.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Let's build something beautiful.

-Nic
