Course preview from Linzee:

"I’ve been quiet around hiring lately for some really big reasons. 1- I had to get myself back into my own company HIRING again to really understand what I thought I’ve been seeing in the hiring market over the last year to truly experience it myself (that’s the only way I know how to lead). 2- The Great Resignation followed by The BIG STAY (fewer resignations monthly than 2022) has thrown recruiters for a loop.

Most seeing this message, I’m sure, have experienced a SHIFT in hiring with inflation being the way it is. For example- a $50,000 salary in 2020 is now equivalent to $57,000 in 2022/2023. That’s a pretty substantial increase in two years. Most businesses have projected a 3.4% average salary increase for employees but when they run the numbers with ADP they’re seeing it be more like 4%.

Below you’ll see more of what we have experienced since COVID as a hiring company:

Recruiters are noticing resumes with decreasing longevity as the new normal.

1. Resumes have jobs on them for 3 months and maybe 1 year time. Longevity is barely a thing these days. *When you ask about it the answer is normally - I tried it out and I didn’t like it so I switched. This is the norm now, get used to it. It stemmed from the Great Resignation.

New employess aren't sticking around if the vibe is off.

2. Employees are leaving a workplace within days if they don’t feel that it’s the right fit for them. Gone are the days of trying to make it work for a few years they do not care.

Candidates much prefer texting, even when accepting or negotiating a position.

3. A limited amount of younger candidates will answer the phone. You have to text them to get a response. Even if they’re applying for sales roles.

4. The negotiations have become more frequent when an offer has been made. I’ve seen employees be very clear about what they want and ask for it more than ever before. Perks they expect these days are flexible work schedules, paid leave, free or subsidized meals, professional development, and work from home.

Employer and candidates are having increasingly divided salary expectations.

5. Many people have an idea of what their worth is in the market place but the employer's thoughts on this don’t match often. This is a big mismatch we are seeing in the workforce right now. When I say big maybe I should say HUGE.

6. Employers have increased salaries at such a fast rate that they’re struggling to have a healthy bottom line. Inflation is eating into the employer's earnings which at some point we expect to see play out in more layoffs.

7. Employers have had to increase pay in order to keep employees so we’ve seen a HUGE INCREASE in people accepting offers and then not showing up to work on the first day because the old employer matched or topped the pay to keep them.

8. A ton of employers are bringing employees back into the offices. This is a big mismatch happening now.

Some employees are beginning to long for the days of office interaction, is remote work on the decline?

9. THE GREAT MISMATCH- it’s a thing. Personally, I’m exhausted by all of the new buzzwords/phrases happening around this stuff but such is life. If you’re not reading about this, you’re behind the 8 ball in hiring. The great resignation was a knee-jerk reaction to people working from home and wishing to keep it that way. Lifestyles changed and so then came “quiet quitting.” Employers started to see a shift in their cultures and thus have requested employees back to work. Now hybrid working is on the rise in order to find a balance between the two.

10. We are just now starting to see EMPLOYEES asking for back in the office again we are meeting with more and more people who are saying they just missed feeling a part of something bigger and better. There is an interesting mismatch here as well that a lot of us are navigating as hiring professionals.

With the above being said… We asked what people felt they wanted to see in a class from ME and I was told by many they want an ask Linzee anything session around what we are seeing and experiencing so they know they’re not alone."
